PAINTING IN EUROPE

and other exotic locations with Arte Umbria

Peru with Macchu Pichu and Cusco and then on to Chile and Easter Island!

Spellbinding!

Most people would like to visit the mysterious Easter Island and see the incredible vast Moai statues and Macchu Picchu in Peru, the ancient Inca settlement. How incredible to be able to paint there as well! Who could resist?

We have put together this truly amazing trip that encompasses the colours and delights or Peru, Chile and then onto Easter Island.

It has to be planned and booked well in advance which is why we are putting it on here now. The trip will be 1 February 2022 for 10 nights, 11 days.

One of the things that make visiting Easter Island difficult is the travel, BUT for this trip all you have to do is pack your watercolours, sketch books and your camera, pick up your passport and we do all the rest!

As with our Japan trip this painting adventure is aimed at couples or friends sharing a room.

The trip includes all return flights from London to Lima, returning from Santiago.

All internal travel transfers. Private bus, train trips and internal flights.

All hotels, with half board. All breakfasts and either lunch or dinner each day.

Plenty of painting time!

It does not include comprehensive travel and health insurance.

Because of the importantance of the ancient heritage, it is not possible to paint in lots of places but we have planned a trip that allows you to paint, and we cover all the permits which we have arranged with the governments. We are only permitted to take pads, sketchbooks, paints and boards. Easels or tripods are not permitted because of space and possible damage to the land. But we are permitted to sit and paint or photograph.

As with Japan, we will have a local English speaking guide with us the whole time.

Itinerary and places we will be visiting

A beautiful itinerary at the heart of Inca’s country! From Lima and its historical neighbourhoods, to the Imperial City of Cusco in the Andes, where colonial houses and churches are silent witnesses of a glorious past. Discovering villages and still very authentic Indian markets around Cusco before taking the train to Machu Picchu, where according to Pablo Neruda “Beats the Heart of Latin America”.

There’s no inhabited spot in the world quite so isolated as Chilean Polynesia. A mere dot in the vast Pacific Ocean, Easter Island (known as Rapa Nui in the people’s native language) is a one-of-a-kind destination whose very remoteness lends it unmistakable authenticity and an aura of mystery. It’s high time to come and uncover its secrets! Explore Rapa Nui’s pink-sand beaches, its volcanic cones and windswept grasslands, and of course, the monumental moai statues – over 1,000 of them bearing silent witness to a long-lost, complex society.

No vaccinations are necessary, but you must ensure that you have at least 6 months to go on your Passport from the date you will be returning home.
